When Cecilia’s family reached out to me about planning a family portrait session at the beach and mentioned that her birthday was right around then, I suggested we add in a cake smash at the beach! Cecilia’s mama was excited about that, and we planned to meet at the same beach where we did their family portraits two years ago. We all love the wooden boardwalk there leading up to the beach, and knew it would be perfect (and less sandy!) for the cake smash!
This family read all of my tips about planning outfits for your beach session and came up with the most perfect combination of clothes for everybody. I especially loved the little white romper on the birthday girl!
It was a foggy evening and we finished the session just before the rain moved in. I actually love fog at the beach and how it covers everything in a soft, misty white blanket. It creates a magical scene where everything is just a bit out of focus, and I absolutely loved the fog at this beach that evening!
This portrait of mom and baby reminded me so much of the very first portrait I ever took of this gorgeous mama with her first daughter when she was almost one. Check out that very special session (with TEN babies!!!) here!
